To allow waste-disposal trucks easier access, United Way announces a reduced need for volunteers on Monday for tornado cleanup
Wichita, Kan., Apr. 22, 2012 -- Increased traffic by waste-disposal trucks will reduce the need for volunteers on Monday, Apr. 23. United Way has been coordinating cleanup volunteers in Oaklawn and surrounding areas since Tuesday, Apr. 17.
Volunteers worked through the weekend cleaning up properties damaged by the recent tornado and have moved debris to street curbs for pickup. United Way will be assessing needs on Monday to determine what volunteer needs there will be for the rest of the week.
Volunteers wanting more information or people needing assistance should dial 2-1-1 (United Way's 24-hour information line).
