To continue to allow waste-disposal trucks easier access, United Way announces a reduced need for volunteers on Tuesday for tornado cleanup
WICHITA, Kan., Apr. 23, 2012 – Continued heavy traffic by waste-disposal trucks will reduce the need for volunteers on Tuesday, April 24.
United Way has coordinated 1,367 cleanup volunteers in Oaklawn and surrounding areas from Tuesday, April 17, to Sunday, April 22. Volunteers have been cleaning up properties damaged by the recent tornado and have moved debris to street curbs for pickup. United Way will continue to monitor the need for volunteers each day.
Volunteers wanting more information or people needing assistance should dial 2-1-1 (United Way's 24-hour information line).
