Abel Frederic Joins United Way as Vice President of Community Impact
WICHITA, Kan., Wednesday, June 16, 2021— United Way of the Plains is pleased to announce that Abel Frederic has joined the organization as the Vice President of Community Impact. United Way advances the common good by creating opportunities for all and focusing on the building blocks for a good quality of life and strong community – health, education and financial stability.
Frederic will lead the Community Impact team in identifying the barriers that prevent residents of south central Kansas from achieving their human potential. He will also manage the planning, development and implementation of strategies to help achieve community-level change and improve outcomes for individuals and families.
After graduating from law school, Frederic began his professional career in Kansas with a leadership role as the Director of Community Impact for United Way of Topeka. He continued his nonprofit career with management experience and increasing responsibilities at various foundations and nonprofits around the state, including at Kansas State Foundation and most recently at Envision, Inc.
United Way CEO and President, Pete Najera said, “Abel’s passion for helping others is impressive and authentic. His leadership and expertise will enhance our relationships with area organizations and increase our collective ability to better fight for the most vulnerable residents in the eight counties served by United Way of the Plains.”
Frederic said, “Advancing the important work being done by United Way of the Plains is critical to me. I’ve always enjoyed working with community leaders, key stakeholders and volunteers who are focused on lifting those in need.”
A graduate of both Leadership of Greater Topeka and Leadership Manhattan, Frederic earned his Juris Doctor from Charlotte School of Law in Charlotte, North Carolina and his B.A. in Political Science from Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas. He assumes his new duties today.
