Applications for United Way of the Plains’ Microgrants Now Open Through March 3
WICHITA, Kan., Jan. 28, 2025 – In 1990, Velma Lunt Wallace established an endowment with United Way to honor the legacy of her late husband, Dwane L. Wallace, former head of Cessna Aircraft, and his commitment to community support. The endowment funds an annual grant program to support local youth-focused initiatives.
Eligibility
- Open to teachers, schools, and school organizations in Sedgwick, Butler, Barber, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Pratt, Sumner and Reno counties.
- Programs must benefit local youth and fall into one of the following categories:
- After School Program
- Youth Development
- Character/Asset Building
- Truancy Prevention
- Tutoring/Mentoring
- Juvenile Delinquency Prevention/Gang Prevention
- Nutritious Food & Meals
United Way of the Plains Director of Community Impact Logan Bradshaw encourages educators to apply for this unique program. “This microgrant opportunity provides an opportunity for teachers and schools to support youth and inspire the next generation, carrying on the legacy left by Dwane Wallace.”
Microgrants are valued between $500 and $7,000, and applications must be submitted by 5 p.m., Monday, March 3, 2025. Visit unitedwayplains.org/wallace for more information and to complete an application.
