Darren Minks will serve on United Way Worldwide Financial Issues Committee

Darren Minks, CFO for United Way of the Plains, has been selected to serve on the Financial Issues Committee (FIC) at United Way Worldwide (UWW). Headquartered in Alexandria, VA, UWW FIC reviews issues and topics impacting the nationwide network of United Way organizations that operate in 1,100 communities located throughout the United States. The committee is comprised of approximately twenty-five CFO’s from United Ways across the country, along with the UWW CFO and controller.

United Way of the Plains President and CEO Pete Najera said the recognition for Minks is well deserved. “Darren has a wealth of experience to share with his colleagues at the national level. Our community has confidence in our organization’s ability to maximize their donated dollars due to his commitment to accountability and transparency. We are grateful for his dedication to our organization and his stewardship of our resources.”

Minks begins his three-year term in January 2022. He earned his Master of Accountancy from Wichita State University, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and has spent nearly two decades at United Way of the Plains, where he also oversees database management, IT services and operations.

United Way of the Plains has earned a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, the Guidestar Gold Transparency Seal and is an accredited charity with the Better Business Bureau.
