Ian Worrell of INTRUST Bank Earns Award from United Way of the Plains
WICHITA, Kan., Tuesday, March 16, 2021 — United Way of the Plains has named Ian Worrell, Commercial Lender at INTRUST Bank, the 2020 Loaned Executive of the Year and the winner of the Captain Laurie Green Memorial Award. One of seven area business leaders who helped lead last year’s United Way annual fundraising campaign, Worrell was presented with the award on Tuesday, March 16.
Noting that fundraising during the pandemic offered a number of challenges for nonprofits around the globe, Roy Heatherly, Vice President of Philanthropy for United Way, said, “All of the Loaned Executives we worked with in 2020 were special. Ian assumed a leadership role and began engaging donors his first day on the job and never stopped.”
The Loaned Executive Program offers high-potential business leaders an opportunity to enhance the impact of United Way across south central Kansas while further developing their own professional skills. Working full time during an intense three-month period in the fall, the loaned executives are sponsored by area companies to extend the reach and fundraising network of the organization. Tasked with harnessing the caring power of our community to advance the common good, Loaned Executives assist companies in developing strategies for their internal campaigns. They also make presentations at employee campaign meetings and help consolidate closing reports on final results.
Captain Laurie Green Memorial Award
Since 1989, one award recipient has been named annually in memory of a United Way of the Plains Loaned Executive who passed away in a tragic car accident. On loan from the Kansas Air National Guard, Captain Laurie Green had already completed a successful year in a Loaned Executive role before committing to begin her second year in the program.
2021 Loaned Executive Program
This year’s Loaned Executive Program will run from August 23 through November 12. Contact Roy Heatherly about participating in or sponsoring the program at 316-267-1321 or rheatherly@unitedwayplains.org.
