Signal Theory Brings More Comfort and Warmth to the Homeless Community in 2024

WICHITA, Kan., Feb. 29, 2024 – Signal Theory, a full-service marketing agency with offices in Wichita and Kansas City, is once again partnering with United Way to deliver more than 500 pairs of socks to the homeless communities in both cities. This year, the creative firm announced a 25% increase, adding more donated socks than the previous year to benefit individuals experiencing homelessness in Wichita and Kansas City.

Community Impact:

United Way of the Plains will facilitate the distribution of socks through United Methodist Open Door, Wichita’s largest food distribution pantry. The organization’s homeless resource and referral center is the city’s largest homeless day shelter.

Jessie Gorges-Sawhill, associate director of philanthropy for United Way of the Plains, emphasized the critical need for socks. “Socks are often one of the most needed and least donated items for people who are homeless,” she said. “They are essential to keep feet warm and protected, which is particularly important during the cold winter months.”

The sock donation is part of Signal Theory’s “Get One Give One” campaign, started last year, in which the agency matches the number of socks given to clients during wintertime with a donated pair.

“Signal Theory calls Wichita and Kansas City home, and it’s important we look for ways to help support our communities,” said John January, Signal Theory co-CEO. “A pair of socks may seem small, but for a person who is outside in the wintertime, a pair of socks can really make a difference. We sure hope this brings them more comfort and a bit of joy that their communities care for their well-being.”
