Teens will celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by making Comfort Kits that Wichita Police will use to console children in crisis
What: MLK Day Volunteering (organized by United Way Volunteer Center)
When: Monday, Jan. 21, 2019; 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Where: The Center, 1914 E. 11th St. N., Wichita
Volunteer Activity:
- Teen participants in the Rise Up for Youth agency and Wichita Police Officers will make Comfort Kits for the Wichita Police Department to keep in their vehicles to give to children in crisis.
- The Comfort Kits include stuffed animals, animal “birth certificates” and more.
- The volunteers will also make fleece tie blankets for those in need.
- The activity was organized by the United Way Volunteer Center with monetary support from the Kansas Volunteer Commission for the supplies.
