FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
FY2026 CONTINUUM OF CARE GRANT COMPETITION
The Coalition to End Homelessness in Wichita/Sedgwick County is excited to announce over $3m in funding for local government and nonprofits to provide housing and supportive services to our unhoused neighbors. This Local Grant competition, coordinated by United Way of the Plains, is a response to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Notice of Funding Opportunity posed on June 3.
The competition opened at noon on Friday, June 12, and will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 23. Completed applications must be submitted to the Coalition to End Homelessness staff cschnieders@unitedwayplains.org and sziad@unitedwayplains.org before the competition closes for consideration.
Pre-application Conference
A pre-application conference to assistance applicants took place on June 25. A recording of the training and a copy of the slide deck are available below.
Eligible Projects and Applicants
In a change from recent grant competitions, HUD has expanded the types of projects that can be funded. The Coalition is actively seeking out the below project types serving people experiencing homelessness:
- Transitional Housing (24-months or less, with self-sufficiency programming)
- Outpatient Mental Health Services
- Outpatient Substance Use Services
- Employment and Education Services
- Permanent Supportive Housing (housing and housing stability assistance as long as the participant needs it)
- Rapid ReHousing (short-term housing and housing stability assistance)
- Joint TH-RRH (combines the Transitional Housing and Rapid ReHousing projects; renewal projects only)
State and local government, and their instrumentalities, are eligible applicants. Nonprofits, including faith-based organizations, are welcome to apply.
