United Ways of Kansas work together to maximize the capacity and effectiveness of local United Ways and provide leadership on issues that impact the quality of life for all Kansans. We are committed to building strong, equitable communities where everyone can thrive.

A man stresses as he reviews his finances.

Rent or electric bill? Food or prescription drug? For too many hardworking households, impossible decisions such as these are a way of life. When our neighbors are forced to make difficult choices, our entire community faces consequences.

United for ALICE logo. United for ALICE is a driver of innovation, research, and action to improve life for ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). ALICE research quantifies and describes the number of households that are struggling financially.

United for ALICE provides a framework and language for stakeholders to reassess public and corporate policies and implement changes that improve the lives of ALICE and their communities.

Helping children foster a love of reading.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library fosters a love of reading and learning in preschool children by mailing them a free, age-appropriate book each month until they turn 5 years old, regardless of the family’s income. Children who are enrolled at birth will amass their own personal library of 60 books. Through a network of local affiliates and support from the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund, the Imagination Library is now open to any Kansas child.
