United Way’s GIV Warehouse Celebrates Record-Breaking Impact in 2025
WICHITA, Kan., Feb. 23, 2026 – United Way of the Plains’ Give Items of Value (GIV) Warehouse achieved its most impactful year yet in 2025, distributing $4.4 million in essential supplies to local nonprofits, the highest total in program history.
GIV connects excess corporate inventory with nonprofits across south central Kansas, turning donated goods into direct community impact. Through partnerships with Amazon, Walmart, Good360 and other corporate and community donors, GIV transforms excess inventory into high-quality supplies nonprofits can access at no cost, lowering operating expenses and freeing up more resources to invest in the people they serve.
“GIV is about more than distributing supplies, it’s about strengthening our nonprofit ecosystem,” said Pete Najera, President and CEO of United Way of the Plains. “By lowering overhead costs, nonprofits can invest more directly in programming and services. When companies, donors, volunteers and nonprofits align around impact, they can focus on what matters most: helping our neighbors stabilize, grow and thrive. This record-breaking year shows what’s possible when we work together.”
Delivering High-Value Impact
In 2025, GIV delivered meaningful support to the nonprofit community:
- 259 nonprofits served
- 1,090 nonprofit visits
- $4,010 average value per visit
- 475 volunteers engaged
- 1,935 volunteer hours served
Supplying Stability, Supporting Success
Nonprofits can shop at GIV monthly for office supplies, classroom materials, household goods, and program essentials that help them meet immediate needs while supporting long-term stability for those they serve.
“Because of our strong partnerships and the generosity of our community, GIV ensures nonprofits have what they need on hand when it matters most,” said Cannon Ball, Community Services Manager. “When organizations can access supplies immediately, they can focus fully on serving their clients.”
“A client will need something that just happens to be an item I picked up at GIV that week,” said Hannah Doom, Program Manager, The Treehouse. “When a mom transitioning out of homelessness needed a safe place for her baby to sleep, GIV had a Pack ’n Play available at that very moment.”
How the Community Can Get Involved
GIV’s success depends on volunteers, donors, and corporate partners who support daily operations. Volunteers help sort, organize, and stock items so nonprofits can shop efficiently, while financial contributions help sustain and grow the program.
