United Way Volunteer Center

Help transform our community. Volunteer.

Whether it’s reading with children, stocking shelves at a food pantry or delivering meals to home-bound seniors, volunteers are needed throughout our community everyday. Our Volunteer Center can match your interests and talents with the needs of more than 300 nonprofit organizations in Wichita and south central Kansas—including agencies not funded by United Way.

CUSTOM EXPERIENCES

Volunteering is a great team-building activity that helps meet important needs in the community. Projects can be tailored for the unique needs of your group, including size, interests, schedule and location.

Corporate Engagement

Allow your employees to have an active role in your company’s social responsibility plan through volunteering. Volunteering enhances teamwork, strengthens morale and demonstrates your organization’s commitment to our community. It positions your company in a unique way to recruit and retain the next generation of employees. When you pair your employees’ passion with our knowledge of community needs, you’ll land on a meaningful project that creates lasting change.

SERVE UNITED

Serve United is an initiative that brings together volunteers to support our community through United Way programs like Read to Succeed, Free Tax Prep, Point-in-Time Homeless Count and investment panels. This fosters a true “force for good” to drive an even greater impact in our region while offering opportunities to build community with like-minded individuals.

TEEN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

You’re never too young to make a difference. Community service and volunteer hours are important to help your college application stand out. Our Volunteer Center helps connect students with local volunteer needs. High School seniors in Sedgwick, Butler, Barber, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Pratt, Sumner and Reno counties are encouraged to apply for the Aaron Joel Smith Memorial Youth Volunteer Scholarship, which recognizes outstanding teen volunteers. Three scholarships are awarded annually in the amounts of $10,000, $15,000 and $25,000.
