Impact ICT CoC name change reflects commitment to ending homelessness

WICHITA, Kan., Dec. 15, 2023 – Matt Lowe, Community Impact Manager for Basic Needs at United Way of the Plains, has announced a name change for Impact ICT-Continuum of Care. Effective immediately, the new name is Coalition to End Homelessness in Wichita/Sedgwick County.

Members were informed about the update at the organization’s annual meeting held in Wichita last week. While the entity will continue to be a continuum of care, per their federal designation, the group’s new name reflects their commitment to serving the entire county and their strength as a coalition working closely together to achieve functional zero homelessness.

Lowe said, “The word coalition was incorporated to describe the joint action we’re taking daily as we partner together on this serious issue. We are a rallying point for the whole community to focus on the goal of making homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring for all our neighbors.”

The coalition includes representation from nonprofits; the faith community; federal, state, and local governments; businesses; and other community advocates. The group will undertake their annual Point-in-Time Homeless Count on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 5 a.m. to noon. Volunteers can assist in this effort by registering for a training session at this link. Data gathered during this process helps the coalition plan programming, make informed funding decisions and measure the progress of their work.
