Jessie Gorges-Sawhill and Stephanie Knebel join United Way of the Plains

WICHITA, Kan., July 11, 2022 — Jessie Gorges-Sawhill has accepted the role of Associate Director of Philanthropy with United Way of the Plains. Gorges-Sawhill will work directly with the Vice President of Philanthropy and the Director of Philanthropy to build strong partnerships with long-standing corporate associates and their workforces.

As a graduate of Friends University, Gorges-Sawhill holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications. She also attended Wichita State University’s Elliot School of Communications as a graduate student. Gorges-Sawhill has been involved in nonprofit work since 2016, and brings fundraising, development and management expertise to her new role. A member of the Wichita Professional Communicators, she has volunteered with Big Brothers and Sisters.

Stephanie Knebel has been named the Director of Leadership Giving for United Way of the Plains. Knebel will work in the Philanthropy department where she will identify, cultivate and expand individual donor relationships.

Knebel earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Fort Hays State University and a Master of Public Administration from Wichita State University. She has held leadership roles in both government and private enterprises. A member of the Junior League of Wichita since 2003, she was the recipient of the 2008 President’s Award for Outstanding Service.
