United Way 211 Trusted Resource for Kansans Amid Government Shutdown

WICHITA, Kan., Oct. 28 – In times of uncertainty, like the ongoing government shutdown and anticipated disruptions to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, United Way of the Plains remains committed to connecting our neighbors with the help they need.

United Way 211 is a free and confidential service for anyone in our community needing assistance. Trained Resource Navigators connect individuals and families to a wide range of support across Kansas, including food programs, housing resources, and utility assistance.

“When the government shuts down, it’s often those living paycheck to paycheck who feel the effects most,” said Pete Najera, President and CEO of United Way of the Plains. Moments like this call for a united response, and United Way 211 is here to help Kansans find the trusted resources and support they need.”

United Way of the Plains is actively working with local nonprofits, food assistance programs, and community partners to monitor the evolving situation and ensure accurate information and resources are available to those impacted by the pause in receiving SNAP benefits.
