United Way, IAM & AW Lodge #70 Host Veterans Flag Dedication this Saturday

WICHITA, Kan., May 15, 2025 – United Way of the Plains and IAM & AW District Lodge #70 are hosting Flags of Freedom, a grand display of 600 American flags to honor active-duty service members and veterans. The event will feature the posting of colors, musical selections, and remarks from local officials and union representatives.

Event: Flags of Freedom Dedication Ceremony
Date: Saturday, May 17
Time: 1-1:45 p.m.
Location: IAM District Lodge #70, 3830 S. Meridian Ave., Wichita, KS 67217

Program will be hosted outside at the field of flags. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside the lodge.

Photos and video are welcome during the event.

ABOUT FLAGS OF FREEDOM

Community members are invited to honor a current service member, veteran, or the memory of a loved one with a $30 flag dedication. Each dedication includes a certificate that marks a flag in the field. Dedications can be purchased through Monday, May 26, at unitedwayplains.org/freedom.

All proceeds support United Way programs that assist veterans with transportation, shelter, mental health care, and other wraparound services. For example, one $30 donation funds 17 free rides on Wichita Transit as part of the Veterans Ride Free program.
